HONOURABLE SAMUEL ATTA AKYEA, MP MINISTER OF WORKS AND HOUSING

Hon. Samuel Atta Akyea Minister of Works and Housing addressing the gatheringHonourable Samuel Atta Akyea received his instrument of appointment as Minister of Works and Housing on 7th February, 2017 after due Parliamentary vetting and approval.
The Minister was born on the 20th day of August, 1962 with a twin sister Gertrude Akyea.
He has been a third time Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South having succeeded H.E. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo – Addo on the 7th January, 2009.
He obtained his ‘O’ and A’ level Certificates from the Adisadel College, Cape Coast. In 1989, he graduated from the University of Ghana, Legon with a Degree in Bachelor of Arts Philosophy and Law.
The Ghanaian legislator holds BL Solicitor’s Certificate and Barrister- at- Law from the Ghana School of Law in 1993.
After his call to the Ghana Bar in 1993, he did his National Service with the Criminal Division of the Attorney General’s Department.
Having become a member of the Ghana Bar Association, he joined the prestigious law firm, Messrs Akufo- Addo, Prempeh and Co from 1994 to 2002.
Thereafter, he set up his own law firm, Messrs Zoe, Akyea and Co.
In the Parliament of Ghana, he has served in the following committees:
1. The Public Accounts Committee
2. Judiciary Committee
3. Foreign Affairs Committee
4. Finance Committee
He is a Christian married to Philippina Akyea nee Lutterodt . They are blessed with two boys and a girl.

HONOURABLE EUGENE BOAKYE ANTWI (MP) DEPUTY MINISTER OF WORKS AND HOUSING

Hon EugeneHon. Eugene Boakye Antwi is a Deputy Minister of Ministry of Works and Housing, and a Member of Parliament for Subin Constituency in the Ashanti Region.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Business Administration, with Marketing specialty from the prestigious Harrow Business School, University of Westminster, London, United Kingdom. He is an Associate Member of Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), United Kingdom.

The Deputy Minister held middle Management level positions in Banking, Mortgage and Insurance at the Lloyds TSB and Barclays Bank Plc, London, UK respectively and worked at the Lord Chancellors Department, London, United Kingdom for a couple of years.

Before his election as a Member of Parliament in 2016, he was the Chief Executive Officer of EUGASS Limited, a Management Consulting group and small-scale construction company in Kumasi, Ghana.

As a devoted member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon. Eugene Boakye Antwi served as a Member of the NPP National Council from 2010 to 2014; Secretary of NPP UK and Ireland branch from 2005 to 2008. He was also a Member of the Ashanti Regional Campaign Teams of the New Patriotic Party for both the 2008 and 2012 General Elections and served as a Member and Secretary of the NPP Electoral Reform Committee in 2015.

He is currently serving on two (2) Committees in Parliament, namely:

  • Education
  • Housing

He is a devoted Catholic.

HONOURABLE FREDA PREMPEH (MP) DEPUTY MINISTER OF WORKS AND HOUSING

IMG 1510Hon. Freda Prempeh, a devoted Public Servant of Ghana and a Brands & Communications Expert is a Deputy Minister of Works and Housing and the Member of Parliament for Tano-North Constituency in the Brong Ahafo Region.
She had her Basic Education and Ordinary level in Kumasi and Advanced level Certificate in Accra before proceeding to Ghana Institute of Journalism, GIJ, where she pursued a Diploma in Public Relations and Advertising. She then obtained her Degree in Business Administration from the University of Ghana. Hon. Freda Prempeh has a Master’s in Marketing, Master’s in Media and Public Relations, and is currently pursuing a PhD programme at the Ghana Telecommunication University.
The Deputy Minister has the aptitude for politics and as such served as Assembly Member for the Lakoo Electoral Area for a period of 8 years. Prior to her election into office as a Member of Parliament in 2013, she was a Manageress at the Point Four Hotel in Sunyani and also worked with the Prison Service for 10 years. In February 2006, she was called to serve on the National Reconciliation Commission as a Public Affairs Officer for a period of 9 months.
Hon. Freda Prempeh is currently serving on two committees in Parliament namely:
• Mines and Energy
• Government Assurance
As a sports fanatic and staunch believer of women’s capabilities, the Ghanaian Legislature founded the Women Supporters Union of Ghana (WOSUGHA). She is an Accredited Member of the Institute of Public Relations (IPR, Ghana and an Affiliate Member of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA).
