Government To Reduce Housing Deficit- Hon Atta Akyea

The Minister for Works and Housing, Hon Samuel Atta Akyea, has assured Ghanaians of government’s commitment to address the over 1.7 million housing deficit in the country. He made this known during a working visit to some housing projects being undertaken by the government in Tema, Kpone, Saglemi all in the Greater Accra Region.
Hon. Atta Akyea said housing is high on the agenda of the government and that the Ministry would do all it could to address the housing deficit through forging stronger investor partnerships to provide affordable housing units to meet the demands of Ghanaians.
The Hon Minister, who was accompanied by his two Deputy Ministers, Hon. Eugene Antwi, Hon. Freda Prempeh, the Chief Director, and other officials of the ministry said investors would be sought for the housing projects under which affordable houses would be built in the rural areas so that people could opt to live there while they worked in the city.
Hon. Atta Akyea disclosed that, the defunct Bank for Housing and Constructiong would be brought back to provide finance to the housing sector
He further commended Amandi Holdings, contractor of the project and OAS Construtora, contractors’ housing project in Sagleme for their good work done and pledged Government’s commitment in ensuring that the projects are completed.
