Government To Reduce Housing Deficit- Hon Atta Akyea

Hon.Minister0002The Government has assured Ghanaians of its commitment to address the over 1.7 million housing deficit in the country.
This would be done through good investment partnership to provide affordable housing, which is high on the agenda of the government to meet the demands of Ghanaians.
The Honourable Minister, Samuel Atta Akyea, gave this assurance when he paid working visit to some housing projects at Tema, Kpone, Saglemi and projects by the Tema Development Company (TDC) sponsored by the Government of Ghana.
The Minister, who was accompanied by his two Deputy Ministers, Hon. Eugene Boakye Antwi and Hon. Freda Prempeh, including the Chief Director and other officials, said investors would be sought to invest in rural housing projects under which affordable houses would be built in the rural areas for people who would like to live there while they worked in the city.
Hon. Atta Akyea disclosed that, the defunct Bank for Housing and Construction would be brought back to provide finance to address the housing deficit in the country.
He commended Amandi Holdings, an Isreali construction company, which was putting up the Naval housing project and OAS Construtora, a Brazillian company working on 5,000 unit housing project for good work done and pledged the Government’s commitment to ensure the projects are completed and extended to other regions.
